What are some of the different holidays you celebrate where you live?
July 4th is Independence Day in America. We have a Flag day too, and of course Thanksgiving. I can not think of any other ones right now lol.

Today is Flag Day in Canada. I have no idea what that holiday is for. Maybe Kathleen can explain it. Is it the day the flag was first invented or something?

Today is Flag Day in Canada. I have no idea what that holiday is for. Maybe Kathleen can explain it. Is it the day the flag was first invented or something? In the USA, It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened that day by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day; in August 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress. Flag Day is not an official federal holiday, though on June 14, 1937, Pennsylvania became the first (and only) U.S. state to celebrate Flag Day as a state holiday. Flag Day in Canada is observed on February 15 each year, commemorating the inauguration of the national flag of Canada by Governor General Georges Vanier on that date in 1965. The day, officially called National Flag of Canada Day, is marked by flying the flag, occasional public ceremonies (especially in 2005, its 40th anniversary), and educational programs in schools. It is not a public holiday, although there has been discussion about creating one. There ya go Softball!
